Ever wondered how Wazoo Gear came to be? Well recently, Co-Founders Nick and Dustin, talked to some folks at the Campfire Co-Op Demo Days about our gear and explained why this whole thing was started in the first place.

The Backstory from Co-Founder Nick Blackman

Wazoo Gear was born from somewhat of a necessity for increasing people's capability. My background in search and rescue brought to light all the ways in which individuals are lacking the right tools, the right mindset, and the right skills to adventure properly. When called out on a Search & Rescue mission, 9 times out of 10, we find that most people were ill prepared when then set out, not having even a few tools that could have helped them, and therefore need to be rescued.

Even as technology has progressed over the years, we've never seen a decrease in rescue missions, making it pretty clear that there's a lack of understanding of what it means to be prepared for the unexpected. So after recognizing that, I wanted to create a company that focused on empowering people to be more capable individuals, every day. There's something about knowing and trusting that you have the tools and resources to try and solve your own problems, it really changes your perspective on everything! Big hurdles become little hurdles, and little hurdles now are just tiny bumps in the road. It just creates a whole different mentality as you go through life.

It was always about creating more than just physical products, we wanted to create long-lasting change in how people take on challenges that come their way. To show people that you can do a lot more than they may think, all it takes is the right tools and the right mindset. The products we've designed are just a few of the tools that will increase one's capabilities.
