Whetstone Pendant: The Arkansas Novaculite stone is your main pendant – use its four grinds (flat, rounded, beveled, and hook groove) to sharpen blades, hooks, and tools.
Ferro Rod: Located above the whetstone, on the leather cord, is a premium ferrocerium rod for sparking a fire.
Ceramic Scraper: The zirconia ceramic is hidden behind the whetstone. Swing it to the side for use as your scraper for fire starting.

HOW-TO RE-SIZE YOUR NECKLACE
- Put the necklace on with the clasp unclipped. Adjust the pendant to hang at your desired location.
- Have a buddy stand behind you and hold both ends of the necklace around the back of your neck with the ends overlapping.
- Note where the ends overlap. Mark, measure, or make a really, really, really good mental note of excess on ends. The average person cuts 2-3” off each end.
- Use a sharp knife or scissors to cut the necklace (≈45°) at the desired length. (See Video) Remember to "measure thrice, cut once" to avoid making a mistake. The clasp will add about 3/4” or 2cm back to the circumference, which is probably a good safety margin to leave.
- Attach the clasp to the end of the necklace. (See Video)
- Try on the necklace to ensure it fits comfortably and repeat the process if needed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear the Viking Spark™ during activities such as hiking, traveling, or even every day?
Yes! Designed for modern adventurers, the Viking Spark™ is crafted with rugged leather cordage and high-quality materials and field-tested to withstand any condition.
Making it tough enough for any outdoor adventure while still comfortable and attractive for daily wear.
Does the Viking Spark™ work in all weather conditions?
Absolutely. The ferro rod and scraper are designed to throw hot sparks in rain, snow, or wind, making this fire-starting necklace a dependable survival tool no matter the weather.
Can I wear the Viking Spark™ in the shower, lake, ocean, and/or pool?
Yes! Wearing leather necklaces in the shower is actually better for them in the long run. It assures that the leather remains clean.
Salt water and sweat can corrode the Ferro Rod after an extended amount of time, so be sure to rinse the necklace with fresh water and move the ferrocerium rod up and down the leather to remove residue from all parts of the necklace.
How do I care for the leather cord?
Rinse your necklace in fresh water weekly to wash off oils and salts, sliding the toggle up to clean around the knots.
If the leather looks dry, apply a small amount of Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP leather conditioner to keep it supple.
