COCHLEAR IMPLANT user: cache cap review
As a user of a cochlear implant I use this cap not for the classic purpose of carrying survival tools. On the other hand: my cochlear implant IS my ultimate survival tool!!! For us CI users there are barely any options to wear the processor comfortably off the ear. I tried wearing a normal cap and tuck the processor under the headband, but it doesn’t fit properly and last but not least isn’t safe at all: because the cap presses the earpiece to the head a normal cap can only be used with a loose fit. This means that every now and then the cap blows off, catapulting the loose CI under it (expensive equipment worth $ 10.000) to the ground, without any protection. I have had a heart attack several times when this happened! That said; with this Cache Cap everything is quite different! The earpiece of the CI (processor) fits nicely in the inside pocket of the cap (left or right), which keeps it in place and even protected during an unexpected fall. Of course bilateral people can use both pockets left and right at the same time. Great advantage is that the cap offers some extra room inside the hat, which is comfortable. Most caps I used before pressed the earpiece against the head, which is unpleasant. With the Cache Cap the earpiece doesn’t have to be kept in place by the headband, but it has its own cache pocket. Therefore the headband of the cap be worn normally tight, which keeps the cap better in place, with less risk of blowing off. Another advantage of wearing the processor inside the cap is reduced wind noise. Other caps exist with a pocket on the outside right above the ear, but without the ear itself protecting the processor from wind, the windnoise is horrible (I tried it). With the processor inside the Cache Cap wind noise is reduced to a minimum. On the same time the modern processors are intelligent enough to work just fine from inside the hat. I find the sound quality only a very little bit more muffeled than without the cap, but that can be perfectly solved (if necessary) by adjusting the loundness one step. The biggest challenge was to lead the wire with the magnet out of the cache pocket in a natural way so the wire wouldn’t fold. I found out that at the far side of the side pocket, where the velcro stops, it is the easiest spot for the wire to come out. When I put on the cap, the magnet is just in the right place, without any unnatural curves. After more than a week of using the Cache Cap my conclusion is I love this product! It is stylish, has good quality and gives me the opportunity to wear my personal ‘survival gear’, (my PROCESSOR!), safely en comfortably in the cap. Being able to even carry my drivers license end some extra cash in the front pocket is a nice plus. I would greatly recommend the Cache Cap for CI users!

Love this cap. I wear it pretty much every day walking my dog. I am a small woman, and it fits me fine. (Also fits my larger husband, but he can’t have it!) Such good quality, very impressed.
